Jaime is pursuing a BS in Aerospace Engineering with a Minor in Astronomy. As a student at SJSU, Jaime participates in a student run organization called Student Advocates For Higher Education (SAHE). SAHE’s mission statement is to promote higher education among immigrant students regardless of their legal status through activism, advocacy, community involvement, peer support, and leadership development. Within the organization, he is involved in community outreach where he shares his insight of how to apply to college and the different resources provided like scholarships, to high school students. As a first generation student, he describes how he would not be here if not for his mentors and parents who guided him every step of the way. His goal is to continue his outreach work and inspire more students to attend college. After graduating, he plans to attend graduate school with the vision of leading a new generation of space shuttle design. He believes engineering goes beyond making people’s lives easier, but also to push humanity forward to new heights and advance technology.
